Using HTML in your virtual classrooms

Most eLearning content today is published in HTML format. While Adobe Connect has always supported the ability to load your Flash content into any Share pod, there's been no way to leverage your content published to HTML. Adobe Connect introduces a new capability that enables you to load HTML 5 content from Adobe Captivate 9 or Adobe Presenter into a virtual classroom.

In terms of loading the content, it's as easy as opening any other kind of document in a share pod - simply drag and drop your ZIP file onto a share pod, or browse your computer using the document selector. There are a few things to keep in mind though.

  1. This functionality has been added to Adobe Connect virtual classrooms; it's not supported in standard meeting rooms or seminar rooms.
  2. At this time, we're supporting HTML5 content exported from the latest versions of Adobe Captivate and Adobe Presenter. This limitation helps us ensure high standards of quality during the import process.

The other important note here is that participants in the virtual classroom will require the Adobe Connect add-in to view the HTML5 content. The ability to display HTML content is not built into the Flash Player, so we've decided to incorporate it into the add-in. Participants who attending the virtual classroom using only a browser running Flash will be prompted to download and install the Adobe Connect add-in. They can do this by simply clicking a button. Instructors can see if any of the participants don't yet have the add-in with a visual cue in the Attendees pod.

In the video below, I'll show you how easy it is to import HTML5 content into your virtual classroom.
